One number a day
DASPR replaces budgets, categories and bank logins with a single daily figure: what you can safely spend today. It is a finished, cross-platform product — and an honest lesson in distribution.
The problem
Traditional budgeting fails for predictable reasons. It is too complex — dozens of categories and monthly forecasts turn money management into a part-time job. It is too distant — a monthly budget is far from the daily decision at the checkout, and by month-end the damage is done. And it is too passive — automatic bank tracking means people watch their spending without ever changing it.
What we built
DASPR is “the un-finance app”: one simple number, updated daily, showing how much the person can safely spend on discretionary purchases and still hit their goals. There are no categories and no bank connection. The person records each purchase themselves, which is the point: the moment of conscious entry is what builds awareness and reduces impulse spending. A daily “spend pulse” shows financial health at a glance, and habit nudges keep the loop going. It ships on both iOS and Android from a single cross-platform codebase.
How it works
The daily figure is derived from the person’s goals and cash runway and recalculated as purchases are recorded. Because nothing connects to a bank, the data is minimal, personal and stays with the person.
Design decisions
Manual entry on purpose. Every finance app competes on automatic tracking. DASPR deliberately does the opposite, because awareness, not tracking, changes behavior.
Privacy-first by architecture. No bank credentials, no account aggregation. For a personal-finance product, the safest data is the data never collected.
One number, not a dashboard. A daily figure is a decision aid; a dashboard is homework.
Cross-platform from the start. Shipping iOS and Android together from one codebase was a deliberate choice to reach the widest audience at solo-team cost.
Outcome
DASPR is a complete product, live on the App Store and Google Play, with its own website. It has not found meaningful distribution.
What we learned
This is the case study we include because it is true. DASPR proves we can design, build and ship a polished cross-platform product with a distinctive behavioral model and a privacy-first architecture. It also taught us that a finished product without a distribution channel is a finished product without users. Personal finance is crowded, “different” is not the same as “findable”, and a product’s positioning and channel deserve as much design as its features. That lesson shaped how FoodGrader was repositioned and how MorphStreet was built around a specific trade with a specific pain — and it is a lesson we bring to every client engagement, starting with discovery.
What this means for your project
If you need a real product shipped to both app stores — with a clear behavioral model, minimal data collection and a small team — this is what that looks like. And if you are early, we will push on distribution and positioning before we push on features, because we have paid for that lesson ourselves.
